Running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain results in five injuries, no deaths on festival's last day

The weeklong San Fermin festival in Pamplona, Spain, which of course includes the famous running of the bulls, ended today with no deaths this year and about an average number of injuries, according to the Associated Press.

Monday proved to be a smoother day for runners than Sunday. Five people were injured today during the bulls' last run, with injuries ranging from bone fractures to what the AP describes as "groin injuries." No one got gored.

Yesterday seven people were seriously injured, including three runners with chest injuries, but none were gored.

After a week of nonstop wine drinking, six people in all were gored by bulls, though none seriously.

Each run takes place at 8 a.m.

The festival has claimed 14 lives since 1924, with the last death coming in 1995.

And so with that, Pamplona 2008 is in the books.

To commemorate all the craziness of the festival, I post here a picture of my brother taken at the 2006 running.
